23C3

Friday, December 29th, 2006

After a few days in good old Austria (during christmas time) I’m now in Berlin to attend 23C3 together with Manschi, Grobi, Klaus, Peppi, Danny & Masse.
I’m going to stay here until January 1st, so I really look forward to the upcoming new-year-party-events in Berlin.
Another thing on the to-do-list is to visit the place where the first Döner has been invented (according to rumors). It is located at ‘hasir, adalbertstrasse 10, kreuzberg’ (thanks to Gottfried who kindly provided me with the address).

Missing features of Skype

Sunday, December 17th, 2006
  • Organize contacts in groups in order to make the contact list more concise
  • Ability to send Push-To-Talk voice messages to individual users or a group
  • Possibility to send messages also if the user is not online at the moment
  • Notification if a specific user becomes available (so i don’t have to check the contact list manually every few minutes to see if the person I need to talk to is online)
  • Auto-Away if screensaver is activated
  • Symbian and/or J2ME version of Skype Mobile + seamless collaboration between the Skype client on my mobile phone and on the computer (e.g. automatically route all messages/calls to my phone if I am not at the computer)

Sun showed up in Oulu

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

After at least 2 weeks of total absence of the sun due to heavy cloud cover, it showed up again 2 days ago (nearly no clouds before noon). I was able to take this photo at around 11am before I had to go to write an exam. After the exam it was quite dark and cloudy again.

By the way, here is the weatcher forecast for the next 7 days:

As you can see it is actually not that cold as it should be at this time of the year.

We have also been to Rovaniemi & Arctic Circle a few days ago to see some sights (e.g. Santa Claus Village). Unfortunately, the weather was quite bad (rainy) but hey, at least I can now tell everybody that I’ve seen the world’s northest McDonald’s ;-)
